It is backwards compatible with DVI-D. Meets HDMI 1.3a specifications. No software installation required. Installation in seconds, just plug HDMI cable from source device (up to 150 feet) to the "source" port of our M05-180 and another HDMI cable from displaying device to the "sink" port of our M05-180.
